Meet the team:
Sue has worked in the field of delivery, assessment and quality assurance of vocational qualifications for over 25 years. She has practical experience of working in FE Colleges and large retailers and as an external verifier. Sue joined NCVQ and then became head of QCA Awarding Body Monitoring. At Ofqual she was appointed Head of Recognition and Accreditation, running both the recognition and accreditation processes and was involved in policy development including latterly the implementation of the 2010 ASCL Act. Sue retired from Ofqual at the end of 2010 and now offers consultancy services to awarding organisations and those wishing to enter the regulated market, specialising in regulatory compliance.
Rebecca provides dynamic and flexible solutions to organisations in the education and skills sector, focusing on leadership and individual development challenges. A competent and experienced client-facing professional, Rebecca has a proven track record of credibility and issue resolution in complex stakeholder situations. Her experience includes working with government, qualification developers, curriculum agencies, OfQual, funding agencies in England and Wales, SSCs, awarding organisations, local authorities, schools, employers and providers. A PRINCE 2 Practitioner and an experienced project manager, Rebecca ensures that projects are delivered on time, to budget and within quality specification. She has experience in delivering complex programmes and projects which have: a long life cycle, are high-risk, and quite often have aggressive timescales.
Mary is an independent consultant with extensive experience within the education sector. She has held senior management positions in FE Colleges and Awarding Organisations. For the past 20 years she has focused on the development, implementation, management and award of credit based qualifications. She has worked with awarding organisations to develop QCF qualifications to meet identified needs and with QCA on the Employer Engagement programme providing advice and support on meeting regulatory requirements to employers wishing to become awarding organisations and those wishing to gain national accreditation for their in house training provision. Mary has worked as an independent reviewer of QCF qualifications and units for Ofqual and now offers a range of consultancy services to awarding organisations and other stakeholders.
Heather is a consultant with over 20 years of vocational education experience working in a range of roles including qualification, product and assessment development, project management, training delivery and sales. She was a Head of Function within the Product Development directorate at City & Guilds where she used her organisational and planning skills to support the delivery of cross-functional projects. Most recently, Heather has worked with a range of Awarding Organisations developing national and international qualifications, developing supporting teaching and learning materials, and producing assessments alongside subject matter experts. She has developed qualifications from entry level to level 5 covering a wide range of occupational areas. She also has experience of staff and consultant training and development.
Sue is a freelance consultant with over 20 years of strategic and operational management experience and extensive knowledge of the UK vocational qualifications system. She held marketing roles in the private sector before moving into the world of Adult Skills in 1994 and went on to become Head of Skills for Life at UfI/Learndirect, before moving to the UKCES to lead a key strand of the UK VQ Reform Programme. She subsequently became Head of Employer Engagement at the QCDA, responsible for advising employers on accreditation and qualifications to meet skills needs. Most recently, Sue has been involved in preparing bids for the Employer Ownership pilot, stakeholder engagement and strategic positioning for sector skills agencies, and facilitating workshops at major EU events.
